Western Australia?s Junior Bowles.
Award-winning Western Australian blues maestro Junior Bowles is heading to Torquay for a chilled-out Sunday afternoon session at Torquay Hotel, as part of his national tour.
If you like Bon Iver you?ll dig Bowles? raw and distinctive folky-blues sound, which is being soaked up by fans around the country at a host of blues and folk festivals ? Darwin, National and Cygnet Folk to mention just a few.
His album The Time Will Come reached number eight on the Australian blues charts for radio and he received the 2011 Western Australia Music Industry Award for Most Outstanding Regional Artist.
The way Bowles describes his music is raw and energy filled blues from the early 1900s. His old fashioned attitude, and raw and honest lyrics represent his soulful ?heart on his sleeve? approach to life, love and sound.
?I believe that the music that comes from me is minimalist, raw and energetic? don?t be fooled by my use of the word energetic. Energy comes in many forms, not just in-your-face energy.
?In this digital, over-complicated, smaller-is-better world, I am making it my soul purpose to make music the way it was intended. To share and communicate pure thoughts and feelings,? Bowles said.
Having picked up a guitar at just 13, Bunbury-born Bowles has also passed his love of music on by teaching budding musicians of Perth and Bunbury.
After touring Bowles will focus on new recordings back home in Western Australian over the next 12 months before heading off again.
